Basic Rules for the Storage, Transportation and Operation of Aluminium Profiles and Components

1. General Provisions

1.1. These rules establish the basic requirements for the transportation and storage of aluminium profiles and components in order to prevent damage, corrosion and loss of their functional properties.

1.2. Aluminium profiles and components shall be stored in dry, well-ventilated storage facilities.

1.3. Aluminium profiles must not be exposed to moisture during transportation or storage, especially when the profiles are packed tightly against each other.

1.4. Contact of aluminium profiles and components with soil, concrete, steel, galvanized products, acids, alkalis, salts or other chemically active substances is not permitted.

2. Transportation Requirements

2.1. The packaging of the profiles shall provide protection against atmospheric precipitation and other external influences.

2.2. During transportation, the length of the vehicle's cargo compartment shall be no less than the length of the profiles. The profiles must not extend beyond the cargo compartment, as this may result in bending or other mechanical damage.

3. Storage Requirements

3.1. Aluminium profiles and components shall be stored in heated storage facilities at a temperature between +5 °C and +35 °C.

3.2. The relative humidity of the air in the storage facility shall not exceed 75%. The temperature and humidity conditions shall prevent the formation of condensation on the surface of the products.

3.3. The daily change in air temperature in the storage facility shall not exceed 5 °C if such a change may result in condensation.

3.4. Water must not come into contact with aluminium profiles and components during storage.

3.5. The floor of the storage facility shall be made of concrete, tiles, asphalt or a self-levelling flooring material. Storage of products in premises with an earthen floor is not permitted.

3.6. Profiles must not be stored on unpainted steel or galvanized racks. The surface of the racks shall be protected with a paint coating, rubber coating or other insulating material.

3.7. If wooden racks are used, the moisture content of the wood shall not exceed 20%.

3.8. Aluminium profiles must not be stored directly on the floor.

3.9. The transport cardboard packaging shall be removed before long-term storage.

3.10. After unloading the profiles and moving them into a heated storage facility during the cold season, the profiles shall be kept unpacked in an intermediate room with a temperature close to the average of the outdoor air temperature and the temperature inside the storage facility. This is necessary to prevent condensation.

3.11. If water, condensation, salt stains or other contaminants are detected, the surface of the profiles shall be immediately cleaned with a clean, dry cloth.

3.12. Profiles shall be stored exclusively in a horizontal position.

3.13. The following substances must not be stored in storage facilities where aluminium profiles and components are kept:

fuels;
lubricants;
acids;
alkalis;
salts;
other substances in powder or liquid form that may chemically react with aluminium or its alloys.

3.14. In the case of long-term storage (more than 3 years), profiles and components shall be preserved in accordance with the requirements of GOST 9.510-93.

4. Operation of Profiles, Aluminium Parts and Structures

4.1. Profiles, individual aluminium parts and structures must not be installed directly on soil, concrete or asphalt.

4.2. Direct contact between aluminium profiles and parts and other metals is not permitted. Dielectric pads or other insulating elements shall be installed at such connection points.

4.3. Aluminium structures and parts shall be installed in such a way as to ensure natural ventilation. They must not be overgrown with grass or other vegetation, covered with other materials, etc.

4.4. Aluminium structures and parts shall be installed in such a way that atmospheric precipitation can freely drain from them and water does not accumulate underneath them.

4.5. Finished (assembled) aluminium structures are intended for permanent installation and are not designed for periodic relocation.

4.6. The accumulation of abrasive materials (sand, dust, etc.) on the structures is not permitted. If such materials accumulate, they shall be removed by washing with water.

4.7. Installed structures shall be inspected at least twice a year.

5. Final Provisions

5.1. This document establishes only the basic requirements for the transportation and storage of aluminium profiles and components and is not exhaustive.
